a bit about me

Born in India, at a young age I earned several accolades in addition to earning Masters in Fine Arts and Ph.D. in Drawing & Painting from India and Masters in Multimedia and Web design from Atlanta, USA.

Early in my career (at age of 13), I was influenced by Intuitive Abstract Impressionism and started doing solo and group shows of my artwork. I have also been involved with theatre since childhood and has acted in 200+ plays, short films, TV plays/shows etc. I comes from a theatre family and my parents have been doing theatre for over 50 years in India. Been involved in both, painting and performing arts, a large portion of my work reflects relationship between art of painting and theatre, with paintings based on themes of plays/theatre from across the world. One of my collection is based on famous international plays such as “Three Sisters” - Russian play by Anton Checkov, “Waiting for Godot” – play by Samuel Beckett, “The Caucasian Chalk Circle - a play by Bertolt Brecht etc.

After spending a years away from homeland India now in my new homeland of historical Lexington MA, I started missing the simple life and colorful folk dances I had witnessed growing up across different regions in India. Inspired by that, I created a series based on “Indian folk dances” and “Indian villages” that showcase beauty & serenity of rural Indian habitats and compositions from various regional folk dances across India.

I have been fortunate to spend time in commercial arts (graphic and web design) as well as fine arts of drawing and painting that includes working in advertising firms and also teaching young children and creating passion for fine arts.

For the last 10 years, I have been involved in promoting art in collaboration with various art outlets, including being part of the planning committee for Lexington Open Studios where many local artists showcase their work, helping organize various Art competitions, encouraging other artists and creative souls to collaborate and showcase their work. I have judged many art competitions and have been an active art ambassador in the New England area (USA). I have also participated multiple En Plaine Aire live painting events such as Revolutionary Revelry, Lexington’s 300th anniversary etc. I was also nominated and honored by India New England Women of the Year Awards in 2013 for my contributions and promotion of art

My most recent collection created during the Covid-19 lock-down titled “Disposition 2020” focuses on paintings based on the state of mind during confinement and dealing with racial inequality

My style of using bright and vibrant colors allows me to express my imagination in a way that is refreshing & eye catching. I express myself in oil, acrylic, pencil and ink, sometimes combining non-traditional mediums.

When observing my work, I would like you to feel “energized and refreshed.
